"I think it was a very good thing to start the year with two new cars, completing some kilometres (in testing), always working with it, fixing some problems and learning from the beginning." Massa finished the 2007 season in fourth position behind team-mate Kimi Raikkonen and the McLaren pair Lewis Hamilton and Fermando Alonso. That's according to Ferrari driver Felipe Massa, who faced the media at a Sao Paulo hotel in his native Brazil on Tuesday (04/03). SUGGESTED VOICEOVER: Ferrari's Felipe Massa met the press in the plush surroundings of the Grand Hyatt hotel in Sao Paulo on Tuesday, to talk about the completion of winter testing for the Formula One team, as preparations continue for the start of the 2008 World Championship. Massa, who finished the 2007 season in fourth position behind team-mate Kimi Raikkonen and the McLaren pair Lewis Hamilton and Fermando Alonso, outlined his hopes for the new season, particularly with regard to Ferrari's new car, the F2008. SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese). "I think it was a very good thing to start the year with two new cars, completing some kilometres (in testing), always working with it, fixing some problems and learning from the beginning." SUPER CAPTION: Felipe Massa, Ferrari. Ferrari's testing programme took them from Jerez and Barcelona in Spain, to Bahrain in the Persian Gulf and back, with Massa hopeful that with a little luck on their side, the marque will begin the new season at the front of the grid. SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese). "The car is fast, the car is constant, the car is - and I knock on wood before saying this - much more reliable than last year's car was during the winter tests, and this is a very good way of starting the championship." SUPER CAPTION: Felipe Massa, Ferrari. Last year Massa suffered a series of technical problems, which effectively scuppered his chances of winning the championship. This year, the 26-year-old Brazilian is hoping that the updated 2008 FIA regulations, which eliminate driver aids such as traction control, will suit his style. SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese). "It's amazing how you, and I'm talking about the driver side of it, learn exactly how to perform with your feet the job previously done by the traction control. At the beginning this seamed like a very radical change." SUPER CAPTION: Felipe Massa, Ferrari This season's new regulations also include the arrival of the Standard Electronic Control Unit, which Massa believes will give greater control of the car to the driver. SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese). "Now the driver has the control during the race start. He has to control the throttle during the first metres where you have a tendency to lose traction, which makes the race starts much more human, not electronic." SUPER CAPTION: Felipe Massa, Ferrari. The 2008 Formula 1 World Championship gets underway on Sunday, 16th March in Melbourne, Australia and Ferrari will be confident of retaining both the driver and constructors' titles.
